With over 1,000 square miles of wilderness and 53 trailheads, it's no wonder Angeles National Forest is one of the most popular day trips for locals and visitors alike. Whether you're hiking, biking, running, boating, or even skiing, there's something for every outdoors-y type here. The drive up Mt. Baldy from LA is pleasant and results in spectacular views from nearly 10,000 feet. The hikes to the Devil's Punchbowl, a strange geographic phenomenon formed on the San Andreas Fault, and the Bridge to Nowhere, a long hike to a strange bridge that seemingly serves no purpose, are some of the best day hikes in the region. Pyramid Lake is a beautiful body of water with a curious rock formation made by engineers in the 1970s. Plan for a trip that will take a full day. It's definitely not for city folk who don't like to venture into the wilderness.

When it comes to the best things to do in Los Angeles, it can be hard to know where to start: Of course, the weather is nice, the beaches iconic. But this is a city that’s much more culturally inclined than many non-Angelenos give it credit, far beyond the cinema scene. Los Angeles has solidified itself as an international playground for artists, for instance: the museums are top-notch, and LA’s creative vastness checks so many boxes. There’s also spectacular natural scenery, a cemetery that becomes a nightclub, and sports stadiums galore (including many new ones that will play host to the 2028 Summer Olympics.) Of course, there’s ample shopping and celebrity spotting, too. To help navigate your journey through La La Land, here are our picks for the best things to do in Los Angeles, no matter how many trips they may take to complete.
