Share
70 min: Halldorsdottir tries to keep the ball on but Riesen defends well to win a foul. The tempo ebbs and flows in this match, one moment there is so much happening and then another it is so slow.

Share
67 min: Vallotto takes it but the communication just isn’t there as it is easily cleared by Iceland. It looked like a play from the training pitch but it failed miserably.

Share
54 min: Jonsdottir readies her long throw again, it’s effective in it’s length but her teammates do nothing with it. It does seem as though Iceland are using some tactics to run down the clock slightly.

52 min: Kári Tulinius has got in touch and said:
When you come from a country with not so many people, you get used to seeing your national side lose. But this time around, Iceland had high hopes. The team was settled and we have a spine of world class players. But after three halves of football, we’re deservedly on the brink of elimination. While I hope the team clicks into gear, I’d settle for a scruffy, deflected strike that dribbles over the line.
This game is the perfect storm for something like that to happen, Kári. Don’t give up hope yet.

50 min: What a lovely ball put on a plate for Folmli but her effort hits the side netting. Both sides eager to break the deadlock as soon as possible.
Share
49 min: Albertsdottir lines it up and she whallops it forward. It was a fabulous effort, it clips off of the bar and over. Oh so close.
Share
48 min: An early free kick given to Iceland after a Maritz foul, the frosty bite of this encounter has not thawed.
Share
46 min: Oh a false start to begin this second half. A restart has happened and we are underway. Please do keep getting in touch, let me know your thoughts: football or cake wise.

Back underway: Switzerland 0-0 Iceland
All the points up for grabs with the deadlock not broken yet. Can a goal be found? All to come.

Here’s how the other game in this group played out earlier. The Norway win means if Iceland lose tonight they are out. A draw or win keeps them in the competition. No matter the result tonight, Switzerland remain in the competition.

Half-time: Switzerland 0-0 Iceland
It had been a fairly even affair until the last five minutes of the half where Switzerland seemed to come alive. Iman Beney came closest and if they keep up that energy a goal feel inevitable. All to play for.
Share
45 + 4 min: Switzerland win a free kick after a push on Schertenleib. Vallotto is the taker again and sends it long, it’s cleared but it comes to Beney who gets a shot away and it hits the side of the netting. Half the stadium thought it was in. A whisker away.
Share
45 + 2 min: There will be five minutes added. Time for a decisive goal? Absolutely.

Share
40 min: Here comes the noise as Switzerland peel forward once again, they look so slick in the midfield but in front of goal are rushing their passes. A little bit more patience and they could squeak ahead before the break.
Share
38 min: This is such a tasty match, it’s quite frosty between both sides in this crucial game.
Share
36 min: A weak cross dribbles into Runarsdottir’s hands but Switzerland are getting joy down the left through Riesen.

Share
34 min: Switzerland take it short and work it into the box. It comes back out but Calligaris’ chip in has too much on it. Gudny Arnadottir is now off for Heidarsdottir as that hamstring injury proves too much.
Share
31 min: Gudny Arnadottir quickly pulled up with what looks like a hamstring injury as Switzerland win a corner. But they now go on without her.
