72 min: Beney has been a threat for Switzerland all night, they just need to feed her more balls and she will hit the back of the net.

    Share

70 min: Halldorsdottir tries to keep the ball on but Riesen defends well to win a foul. The tempo ebbs and flows in this match, one moment there is so much happening and then another it is so slow.

    Share

68 min: Iceland make a change with Albertsdottir off for Halldorsdottir. She is immediately involved as her first shot is wide.

    Share

67 min: Vallotto takes it but the communication just isn’t there as it is easily cleared by Iceland. It looked like a play from the training pitch but it failed miserably.

    Share

66 min: The crowd want a penalty and when it does not come the boos come again. One the replay it doesn’t look enough for a penalty, Switzerland do win a free kick from it though.

    Share

64 min: Vilhjalmsdottir crosses in the corner and Brynjarsdottir gets a head to it but the attempt is wide.

    Share

63 min: Boos come again as Jonsdottir takes her time over her throw in. But the resulting throw is good and it eventually sees her win a corner.

    Share

62 min: Maritz rolls twice after a foul but she is okay, the foul sees the momentum from Iceland’s game drain slightly.

    Share

60 min: Oh my gosh what a save, she is the Serie A goalkeeper of the year for a reason. Wandeler crosses in and Beney gets a great header on target but Runarsdottir pushes it over for a corner. The set piece is dealt with – just – by Iceland.

58 min: Jonsdottir has a lovely cross into the box, it’s beautiful but Peng makes a critical intervention before an Icelandic player can get to it. This match is really livening up now.

    Share

57 min: Switzerland make two changes with Crnogorcevic and Wandeler on for Stierli and Folmli.

    Share

56 min: Beney wins Switzerland a corner and Vallotto remains the taker. Her delivery was good to Calligaris but she slips and the chance is wasted.

    Share

54 min: Jonsdottir readies her long throw again, it’s effective in it’s length but her teammates do nothing with it. It does seem as though Iceland are using some tactics to run down the clock slightly.

    Share

52 min: Kári Tulinius has got in touch and said:

When you come from a country with not so many people, you get used to seeing your national side lose. But this time around, Iceland had high hopes. The team was settled and we have a spine of world class players. But after three halves of football, we’re deservedly on the brink of elimination. While I hope the team clicks into gear, I’d settle for a scruffy, deflected strike that dribbles over the line.

This game is the perfect storm for something like that to happen, Kári. Don’t give up hope yet.

    Share

50 min: What a lovely ball put on a plate for Folmli but her effort hits the side netting. Both sides eager to break the deadlock as soon as possible.

    Share

49 min: Albertsdottir lines it up and she whallops it forward. It was a fabulous effort, it clips off of the bar and over. Oh so close.

    Share

48 min: An early free kick given to Iceland after a Maritz foul, the frosty bite of this encounter has not thawed.

    Share

46 min: Oh a false start to begin this second half. A restart has happened and we are underway. Please do keep getting in touch, let me know your thoughts: football or cake wise.

    Share

    Back underway: Switzerland 0-0 Iceland

All the points up for grabs with the deadlock not broken yet. Can a goal be found? All to come.

    Share

Here’s how the other game in this group played out earlier. The Norway win means if Iceland lose tonight they are out. A draw or win keeps them in the competition. No matter the result tonight, Switzerland remain in the competition.

    Share

    Half-time: Switzerland 0-0 Iceland

It had been a fairly even affair until the last five minutes of the half where Switzerland seemed to come alive. Iman Beney came closest and if they keep up that energy a goal feel inevitable. All to play for.

    Share

45 + 4 min: Switzerland win a free kick after a push on Schertenleib. Vallotto is the taker again and sends it long, it’s cleared but it comes to Beney who gets a shot away and it hits the side of the netting. Half the stadium thought it was in. A whisker away.

    Share

45 + 2 min: There will be five minutes added. Time for a decisive goal? Absolutely.

    Share

45 min: It has been a very fairly balanced match with both throwing attacking hits so far, the only thing missing is a goal. Schertenleib tries to break the deadlock now with a great run but the long range effort is over the bar.

    Share

44 min: Manchester City fans will love that sight, an excellent bit of defensive work from their new signing Beney as Jonsdottir attempted to get a shot away.

    Share

42 min: Jonsdottir, who is known for a long throw in, launches the ball into the box and Iceland direct the ball on target but Peng saves.

    Share

40 min: Here comes the noise as Switzerland peel forward once again, they look so slick in the midfield but in front of goal are rushing their passes. A little bit more patience and they could squeak ahead before the break.

    Share

38 min: This is such a tasty match, it’s quite frosty between both sides in this crucial game.

    Share

36 min: A weak cross dribbles into Runarsdottir’s hands but Switzerland are getting joy down the left through Riesen.

    Share

35 min: Boos rain down from the stands as yet another Iceland player, this time Jonsdottir, is down. She is quickly back to her feet but she wins a free kick. The delivery is good but Peng reads it clearly to collect.

    Share

34 min: Switzerland take it short and work it into the box. It comes back out but Calligaris’ chip in has too much on it. Gudny Arnadottir is now off for Heidarsdottir as that hamstring injury proves too much.

    Share

31 min: Gudny Arnadottir quickly pulled up with what looks like a hamstring injury as Switzerland win a corner. But they now go on without her.
