Sabrina Carpenter’s work with Plus1, a nonprofit organization and platform that assists artists with advocacy campaigns, has done some serious good in the short time since its founding. The Sabrina Carpenter Fund has raised over $1 million in less than a year since its launch, a record for the platform.
Carpenter partnered with Plus1 on her “Short n’ Sweet” Tour, which began Sept. 23 in Ohio and from which $1 of each ticket sold was donated to the Sabrina Carpenter Fund. The Fund in turn was used to support initiatives like the Best Friends Animal Society, the Jed Foundation, Rainbow Railroad and MusiCares, among others. “Sabrina’s team carefully selected nonprofit organizations that align with her values, ensuring that every dollar raised makes a meaningful difference,” Plus1 wrote in its 2024 review.
The company wrote that $824,000 of the Sabrina Carpenter Fund’s $1 million was raised during Carpenter’s North American tour, with European dates making up the remainder of donations.
“Sabrina is setting a new standard, one where social impact becomes woven into an artist’s career to create meaningful, lasting change,” Plus1 CEO and founder Marika Anthony-Shaw said in a statement.
The milestone was announced by Plus1 on Monday and originally reported by Forbes.
The platform, the company explains, “grew out of the band Arcade Fire, who were looking for a way to support Haiti and realized the power that lay with the most passionate and committed people they knew: their audience.” In addition to helping artists with charity ticketing add-ons, it offers advising and strategy and helps with establishment of philanthropic funds on behalf of artists.
Carpenter has been commanding the pop zeitgeist again this summer with the chart-topping release of “Manchild” in June and her reveal of the meme-tastic cover art for her upcoming album “Man’s Best Friend,” set for release in late August.
