Paramount Global will launch Boston Blue, its new CBS drama and expansion of the Blue Bloods franchise, at the international TV market MIPCOM in October.
Boston Blue will have its world premiere in Cannes at MIPCOM on Oct. 12, ahead of the series’ U.S. debut on CBS on Oct. 17. Series lead and executive producer Donnie Wahlberg and co-star Sonequa Martin-Green are set to attend the premiere and participate in a post-screening Q&A.
Produced by CBS Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer Television, Boston Blue follows Wahlberg’s NYPD detective Danny Reagan as he relocates to the Boston Police Department and is paired with detective Lena Silver (Martin-Green). As Reagan adjusts to a new city, he also attempts to reconnect with his son Sean (Mika Amonsen), now a rookie officer in Boston. Bridget Moynahan will guest star in the premiere, reprising her role as Erin Reagan, and is set to direct an episode later in the season.
The series introduces Silver’s new law enforcement family led by Boston District Attorney Mae Silver (Gloria Reuben), with police superintendent Sarah Silver (Maggie Lawson) and rookie officer Jonah Silver (Marcus Scribner), alongside Reverend Edwin Peters (Ernie Hudson).
Showrunners and executive producers Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis are joined by Jerry Bruckheimer, KristieAnne Reed and Wahlberg on the producing team.
MIPCOM director Lucy Smith described Boston Blue as “a perfect premiere” for this year’s market, citing the global interest in the CBS procedurals.
MIPCOM, which runs Oct. 13–16, is the world’s largest global market for television and streaming content, drawing more than 10,000 attendees from more than 100 countries.
