“The Devil Wears Prada 2” screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna is just as excited as the fans about the sequel’s on-set photos.
McKenna recently told IndieWire that the early attention can only help the film, despite some who think the sneak peaks will spoil the plot and the fashion.
“People will stand outside just for a glimpse of these actors and these characters that they love because seeing them in wardrobe has really excited people, especially since it’s a fashion movie,” McKenna said. “We knew there would be a lot of interest. I personally hadn’t experienced this level of people coming out [to the set], but it’s the world we live in. In many ways, we’re speaking to a different world than we did in 2006. … It stems from like a legitimate desire to see these characters again. As long as everyone’s safe, what an honor that people are still interested.”
20th Century Studios released an official first look at “The Devil Wears Prada 2” in July, sharing a photo of Anne Hathaway‘s Andy Sachs on its social media. Since then, fans and paparazzi have been camping outside of designer stores to get a glimpse at the film’s production.
Along with Hathaway, the film stars Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci. David Frankel, who directed the first “Devil Wears Prada,” returns to helm the sequel. The film reportedly follows Streep’s Miranda as the magazine industry crumbles around her. She is forced to go toe-to-toe with Blunt’s character, who has surpassed the role of assistant to become a well-respected luxury executive with the advertising budget Miranda is looking for.
