Months after performing in front of the world on the NFL’s biggest stage, Kendrick Lamar’s performance is still buzzing.

On Tuesday, it was announced that Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX Apple Music halftime show was nominated for four awards at the 77th annual Primetime Emmy Awards on Sept. 25.

The halftime show, which was headlined by Lamar’s hit single “Not Like Us,” received nominations for Outstanding Variety Special (Live), Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, Outstanding Music Direction and Outstanding Choreography (Variety/Reality).

Lamar’s halftime performance, which amassed a record audience of 133.5 million viewers, was produced by Roc Nation and Jesse Collins Entertainment.

The Compton-born rapper’s halftime performance included hits from his latest “GNX” album, including “squabble up,” “peekaboo,” “tv off” and “luther” featuring SZA, who was also part of the show.

Lamar’s show also visited some of the most popular hits in his discography such as “Alright” and “Swimming Pools.”

Along with SZA, Lamar’s halftime performance also featured actor Samuel L. Jackson, who played “Uncle Sam,” 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams, who had a cameo during “Not Like Us” and Mustard, who produced Lamar’s “Not Like Us” and “tv off.”

Lamar isn’t new to the Emmys for his Super Bowl halftime performances. He won an Emmy for the 2022 Super Bowl LVI halftime show that also featured Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem and 50 Cent. It was the first Super Bowl halftime show to win an Emmy.

Grammy Award-winning singer Beyoncé is also up against Lamar for an Emmy in the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category for her halftime performance during the Baltimore Ravens-Houston Texans NFL Christmas Day matchup.

Beyoncé’s halftime performance included new hits from her “Cowboy Carter” album, and featured hit songs such as “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM.” The Texas Southern University Ocean of Soul marching band and Motion of the Ocean dance team were featured in the performance.

Both artists are currently on stadium tours. Kendrick Lamar and SZA are on their international “Grand National Tour” — which wrapped up its North American dates in June — while Beyoncé is on her “Cowboy Carter” tour.
